I'm here. My apartment is lovely and the location is more than superb. Ali B., Poppa Sir Elliott and I got into town around 10:30 p.m. last night due to multiple stops along the way. I'm not sure what was worse---trying each time to get Elliott to eat, drink or poop (he did none of these things until we reached the apartment), or the fact that Ali, Pops and I all are notorious for needing to use the restroom frequently.
No matter...we arrived safe, and there was a parking space at my doorstep, no joke, it was beautiful and thank you God because it was a bit bigger too so we were able to unpack the van no problem. Today we set up my room, my computers and went grocery shopping. We also went to downtown so Ali could see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, South St., The City Paper and The Walnut Street Theatre, we also walked along the Delaware River on Penn's Landing.
They are leaving early tomorrow morning. I am so happy they came to help me get settled in and set up. It's going to be tough to see them go and know that once they are gone, my closest family is 6 hrs away in Boston. It was tough to say goodbye to my mom yesterday morning, tears were shed by her which led to them being shed by me. At least Scotty was happy and cheerful to help offset the sadness of my momma.
I start at the Theatre on Wednesday at 3 p.m. I need to set up a checking account tomorrow, get a SEPTA bus/rail pass and go to a bike shop and get new screws to put on my front fender since I haven't the slightest clue what I did with them after I took them off at my parents house to pack my bike. Ah well.
Let the journey begin, and may it not be a lonely one.
