Today I was rather productive (and awake nearly 2 hrs before I'd planned...).
I got up and went to 9 a.m. mass at a new church on Broad Street that my friend Deb at the Walnut Street Theatre told me about. It's a beautiful Italian Cathedral with a congregation of old Italian couples and I loved it there. The priest seems so kind and relaxed, in spite of the traditional nature of the space.
After church I went downtown to seek out a pair of shoes for opening night of "Windy City." I'd scoped them out online at Payless and even called to see if the location I was going to had them (they did!) and so I thought I had my plan in line. I knew I had an hour to kill so I sipped coffee at Cosi and read/wrote and then headed over. Unfortunately the time online was wrong and so I had another hour to kill before I could get the shoes. I wandered into a store nearby with lots of fun clothes/shoes and tried on a few different dresses and ended up finding a dress to wear to opening night for $15! It was awesome, I thought I was just going to wear one I had already but then I found the perfect black dress and at that price I couldn't resist. I also found a pair of slip ons at that store that I want very badly and I may be forced to go back there in a week or so (after another payday) and nab them, yes I am naughty like that.
I still had some time before Payless opened so I ended up having a nice chat with Dan. I hadn't talked to him really since my going away party and so it was nice to hear how Big Rapids and classes were treating him. He seems to be doing well and I'm so proud of him for going back to school and getting himself set to do something he loves.
Finally noon rolled around and I was able to go in and get my coveted 40's style pumps (as pictured) and now I'm all set to be a diva on opening night. I'm going to wear my silver sequined beret, I'm beside myself with excitement (stop laughing at me).
Now, if only a girl had a date. Ah well, I'm going to have a blast either way, and I'm going to look sassy doing it.
