Pining for Pablo

I rented a movie (actually two) today. I'm exhausted after a week of defeat in the world of journalism and I am prepared to fully admit that I may not be prepared to be a copy editor but shit, at least I gave it a try. Defeat. I cannot get tired in the face of defeat. There's a lot to be said about hitting a wall though, it brings on a lot of clarity.

Today I have finally gotten some sleep. I have also managed to go to the Green Line Cafe and write a story for the Clog; whine in a personal entry about how sucky life is for the girl who is on her own, far from her support system and trying to make it in some artistic avenue without giving into the evils of job possibilities that will land me in the world of cubicles; pick up the copy of the "Complete Stories" by Dorothy Parker that I had asked to be sent from another branch of the library to the Walnut branch; go to the grocery store and buy some much needed milk and butter; work on my new song some more and just do some general screwing about on my guitar and watch "The Mystery of Picasso." The show twas brilliant.
This was, of course, a relaxing day for me.
All the while my tail-end and thighs are still incredibly sore from Thursday's explorations into the world of Capoeira---Brazilian fight-dancing. Yes, I'll be going to the class again next Thursday and then writing about the experience. Lets just say, I didn't have any workout pants (you are required to wear pants and I only have shorts), so I showed up in some floppy cargo pants and I think Mestre Dotour took pity on me and so he gave me a pair of Capoeira pants. Said pants were great, but also white and guess who was wearing striped underwear...more on that in the article that I assume will run sometime toward the end of November or in the first December ed. of City Paper.
Addendum:
I just completed "Good Night and Good Luck" and don't understand why I didn't watch this sooner. It was extra-enjoyable because I just completed the section in my book (Tell Me No Lies: Investigative Journalism That Changed the World) about Murrow's broadcasts about McCarthy. Shooting the movie in black and white didn't feel contrived either, it felt---right.
