God help us, the apartment move in has been a bit of a nightmare but both Beth and I are trying very hard to keep a smile on our faces. Walked into the place Wednesday and it wasn't finished like it was supposed to be and then the had to put poly on the floors and so Beth and her family just hung out for most of the day on Thursday because the floors were still tacky. Friday night I moved my things in and yesterday we hooked up the gas but then last night I had the misfortune of realizing we had no heat/hot water like we were supposed to have since electricity and gas were on and moving. No one is around because it's the weekend/holiday. It wasn't too cold last night and we have cooking gas/microwave so at least we can prepare food...though last night was a bit of a fiasco. I was planning on making a light but multi-course meal and then BAM bad news. So I am cooking the chicken and I go to turn on the overhead fan and sawdust that happens to be in the vents flies out all over the sweet and sour chicken i have simmering on the stove. It was sadness. Luckily I had salad, California Rolls and Asian noodles as well so dinner wasn't ruined...we just ditched one course and it actually was plenty of food and we were both most defintiely full.
I'm at my wits end with Green Street Property and I have no plans of ever leasin from them again. We are making a list of things that are not finished/need to be fixed and I'm documenting them all with my camera because this is getting ridiculous. Lets just say, I'm already planning on fighting for February to be free at this point. We have been nothing but patient and flexible with them. This is unbelievable. All I can say is that when things iron out, the apartment will be great. The space is fantastic and Beth and I are already working hard to make this house a home. Aslo, Oscar and Elliott are pretty much back to being best cat buddies too so that's good.
Happy New Year everyone!

that stinks!
we came home to a messy apartment that had drywall dust over most stuff in our kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom. oh and one of our bathrooms is totally torn up (they're repairing the floor... but with the holiday, they aren't done with it yet). sucks!
here's to renting! (can't wait until we own!) i hope you and beth enjoy your new year's eve
