Proud to Have Rosemary Clooney Thighs

Today I've been walking around in limbo, my Aunt Susie metaphorically at my side. She was supposed to arrive in Philadelphia around noon. I had chatted with my new employers about how this weekend had been planned prior to my applying for the job and they were entirely understanding, allowing me to have today off (a day off in my first week, incredible). It is now 7:40pm and my poor aunt is still in Detroit.
Last night she was forced to drive to Flint in order to get here because her flight out of Lansing was cancelled. She managed to find a hotel and stay in that emaciated city for the night and then got up this morning planning to end up with me by "this afternoon." Around 8 a.m. I received a phone call, her flight had made it to Detroit but she was then stuck! Stuck I say! They had delayed her flight until 1:30 p.m. Another phone call was soon to follow, she was grounded until 5:00, then 5:30, then 6:30, then possibly never.

We began to talk about cancelling our hotel (she had a deal and we were going to stay in the Marriott in Center City) and trying to get herself on a flight back to Flint where her car was parked. As of 10 minutes ago there is a new possible flight for her. It would get here around 11 p.m.----almost 12 hrs later than her original landing time. Poor gal.

I spent the last 45 minutes or so sitting on my front porch. I watched the crazy storm swoop in and swoop out and during all of it I just kept thinking "December first and it's 70 degrees."

Madness.

Now I am going to watch "White Christmas" on Turner Classic Movies because that's how I roll. I hope Aunt Suz gets here tonight. I was really looking forward to a weekend of just the two of us.
