That right there is the dynamic Philadelphia Trio (from left to right: an idiot savant, Beffers and Arizona Dakota)
It's been an interesting few weeks. The apartment is almost under control but still not as complete as it was supposed to be when we moved in last week. Our scardy cat selves are still awaiting bars for our garden-level windows (better safe than sorry) and the fridge still has a lean, yes, a lean.
Anyways, Saturday Beth and I made our first adventure into the norther wilds of Manayunk. Arizona lives there and decided to give us a spectacular evening by making us dinner. Tuna steaks in sauteed red peppers and onions with an Indian mustard/spinach marinade, roasted potatoes and couscous. God bless Texas! Girl knows how to cook. We then returned to the wilds of South Philly to enjoy some beer with Megan and Matt Ohio. Sure neither of their last names happens to be Ohio, but they are from that state and therefore in my mind have taken on the fitting last name.
My first week of triathlon training went fine. I am glad I have 7 months to perfect my swimming, I'm going to need every day I can get. I'm in the process of figuring out how to pay for new furniture and the new bike I'm working toward getting. I suppose the best answer to that is "WRITE MORE STORIES!"
Speaking of stories, I completed the assignment from hell for the City Paper marketing department and am entirely dissapointed with the way they all left me out to dry. I will never write for the marketing department again, even if it is a favor for Duane. He left me out to dry too, didn't return my e-mails. The lack of communication involved with writing that story was horrible and the timing stunk (right in the middle of the holidays). I am working hard to find some things I'm interested in writing about just to get some bylines under my belt and get the bad taste out of my mouth so I stop cursing City Paper as a whole.
I'm looking forward to this year, I feel prepared to explore and push myself mentally and physically. I like the freshness of the new year and with it the trying on of a new age. In two days I'll have 23 years in this body and I thank God for every day.
