Today the sleet poured down from heaven for hours. As my co-worker Serge would say, the rain was chunky. And it continues to be chunky now. There's at least 3 inches of the stuff clogging up the streets and lawns of Philadelphia.
It's on nights like tonight that I'm reminded of my singlehood. Loneliness isn't it, but rather a yearning for sharing moments, giving love. Extreme weather does that to me. When it was incredibly warm on Wednesday I looked a bit sadly at the absense of a body to my left or right while I sat in the park at lunch watching preschoolers draw beautiful dreams on the sidewalk and push dump trucks and tractors across the grass. Tonight when the sleet was squishing over my toes I couldn't help but think of how much warmer my hands would be if there were another set of ten digits to entangle them with.
At least I have Elliott, though everytime I say that all I can think is, I'm turning into a 23-year-old cat lady who sits at home watching movies snuggling her cat. Yikes.
