An Enjoyable E-Mail to Break Up a Boring Monday

So today I was invited to join this lovely web site dedicated to sharing book reviews and allowing you to be a part of community of readers so as to get suggestions for future book/magazine endevors. I decided to hop on board and join while also inviting multiple writers/friends to join it as well. On a whim I also invited a couple of the writers that I've interviewed in the past and received the most enjoyable e-mail back from one such writer/columnist, Ayun Halliday. Her response is as follows. I think she managed to epitomize the center of most writers' insecurities in such an honest simple way. This woman is just plain awesome.

"Dear Amanda,
Thank you so much for inviting me to join you on good reads. I'd never
visited the site before and think it's a thrilling idea.
I opened Pandora's box though, like always, and found some really
scathing gnarly reviews of my stuff (and me personally!) by a couple of
participants and I fear I'd go down that rabbit hole never to emerge.
Them bad apples can really spoil the bunch and the last thing my kids
need is me spending more time running around the internet, tearing my
hair out because people I haven't met hate me!
But you, miss, have made my day by liking me enough to invite me in
something that would be really cool to belong to if I wasn't a sitting
duck for shit that tends to stick!
happy mondays.
x
