I live in a city founded by the Puritans...

I'm not in Michigan anymore.

A few quirks due to aforementioned Puritans...

  • Beer and liquor are not sold at the same stores.
  • Some beer stores do not carry anything less than cases of beer (so what, either buy 30 beers or none?!)
  • Beer can be bought by the 6-pack at some bars.
  • Liqour licenses are almost non-existant and so finding places to purchase alcohol to take home is difficult.
  • In fact they are so limited that many bars and eateries are BYOB, yes, you are actually allowed and encouraged to bring along your own alcoholic beverage(s) to any place with BYOB indicated in their listing.
I find all of the above to be very strange but hey, I suppose every place has it's thing, besides Canadians have seperate beer and wine/liquor stores as well so I guess I'll let that one slide.

hah! that is crazy! here in VA, they sell beer and wine just about EVERYWHERE (there's a cute coffeeshop that's very European where you can buy a bottle of wine, sit outside and sip it. Cute!). But you can only buy liquor (and some other booze) at state-run stores. The guy at the state-run store we went to was so awesome, we decided to forgive the fact that it's not Michigan and all loosy-goosy with the booze.
