It's true. In the world of journalism it's next to never that you hear of someone actually praising a piece of journalistic work. In this line of work the only feedback you get is normally negative. I mean who doesn't enjoy reading the editorials that come in from readers bashing the pride of the writers that put the content in the pages?
Today was a landmark. My editor took time out to send me a note about a piece I recently wrote. It was short (200 words) but she liked it (apparently) and let me know and also passed it along to the editor in chief (holy shit) for his reaction.
I'm starting to hit my stride again. It feels good to be a member of a writing atmosphere. I alraedy feel more a part of this paper than I ever did at the Western Herald.

Did I mention I got Tuesday off? I did, which means I get to go to opening night of Windy City at the Walnut Street Theatre. Employees get 2 free tickets, I can't wait to get fancy, see a play and pretend I could have afforded the seats I'm getting ($60 a pop!)

In teaching, it is sometimes the same way as journalism: a lot of negative, not a whole lot of positive feedback. The school I'm at is kind of the opposite: everyone is so supportive, helpful and optimistic. It's awesome. Way to go, champ!
