At 2am this morning my great aunt, Corinne, died. She was a brilliant painter and the only person I knew who could say her job title was "artist" and was quite serious. I'm worried about my grandmother, Corinne was her only sister. My grandparents drove 16 hrs and made it as far as Alabama but she died before they made it to her side.
As artists, I felt connected to her despite not knowing her very well. She was frivolous in my grandmother's eyes mostly, but in mine she was magnificent. I feel like I say this a lot, I wish I'd known her better.
She isn't suffering anymore. No more cancer. No more chemo. No more.
