About Me

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
I love gerbera daisies. 20something laid back gal with an Irish-Catholic background and a thirst for beer and whiskey. Above are the Irish rioting in Philly, I aim to do my best to uphold the tradition. This is the story of my Philadelphia takeover.

Regatta? Yeah, you gotta!

The name of the sculpture is "Social Conciousness" and it is outside the west entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Yes, this would be the museum where Rocky ran the steps. I promise a picture of the statue the next time I go there.

I just couldn't get past this piece, it really is an amazing piece of art and I was so glad to spend some time with it today on my journey to the Schuylkill River (said Skoo-gle, and I thought the Native American names in Michigan were bad!).
Today at the river was the 2006 Schuylkill Banks Regatta. The regatta is basically a collection of crew singles and doubles races. The best part about going was the trip there. I got to see a lot of the Art Museum district by the river that I hadn't known even existed. Near the site of the regatta I also found a possible story idea, always a good thing. I am trying to start writing some things for the news department so that I can show my editors that I am a versitile writer capable of the open staff writing position (or anything else that might open up before the completion of this internship for that matter).
Along the river there's a trail reminscent of the lakeshore trail in Chicago. It was a beautiful sunny day to be out in the fall air walking along the river. I'm so glad I made an afternoon of it.

Last night was my final night with the cast of Windy City. I said goodbyes to many wonderful people and put some minor closure on a crush though he made the comment "well there's Myspace and you have my number" as I bid him farewell. I have a hard time seeing myself making use of that number. If nothing happened in the two months that we saw each other almost every night of the week I have a hard time seeing a friendship/relationship growing after he returns to NYC.
