If I Lost My Name

Last night Megan, Matt, Arizona and I went to the Northstar Bar to see Phosphorescent. He's a crazy cowboy from Athens, GA with a chip on his shoulder and a swagger in his step. The night was long, three opening bands with setlists that numbered minutes longer than that of the headliner...that's ridiculous. But there seemed to be a 2 a.m. curfew and so the only thing that can be said is that it's too bad there was a hold up on the sound at the beginning because it ended up eating Phossy's (that's what I'm calling him now) time rather than the less than stellar opener's.
It's kind of hard to tell from this photo but he was certainly wearing that coat last night (and a turban made from his scarf) and lets just say one thing, that jacket has batteries and it lights up. All the stage lights were turned off and so Phossy was like a glow worm in the center of his three backing bandmates.
In the time we waited for him to get on stage a few things were realized:
a) The Northstar Bar has no bread
b) Arizona is a pool shark
c) Apparently needy people flock to us
d) There are bathrooms upstairs at the Northstar
e) Matt is the best customer ever because he wrote up our bill on a sheet of lined paper
The set was incredible, but short. He only played one song from Aw Come Aw Wry but his other songs were entirely bombastic and probably only translate well live and so it made sense to play them rather than album tunes.
I'm still bummed about the set length though and you could tell, he was too.
