It's been said when it rains, it pours. I feel as though I am the physical manifestation of that now more than ever. When Timmy the broken tooth hit I was sick, aggrivating the situation (imagine having a drill in your mouth and using every muscle in your abdomen to surpress a cough while said drill is milling about near your precious gums and tongue)...suffice it to say, much of the left side of my tongue and lower gums is now a field of canker sores due to the cuts I endured from the experience.
Anyway, this weekend it felt like the sickness was getting better...but then suddenly it wasn't, in fact it was worse and I could hardly breathe. In Chinese folklore there is a ghost known as the sitting ghost. It crawls onto your chest at night and slowly suffocates it's victims by weighing down on their lungs until it is impossible for them to inflate anymore. Sunday night I woke up gasping for air and quite certain that I was suffering the affects of a Sitting Ghost. Yesterday it was no better, I felt like I had asthma and so I made an appointment with a doctor my boss suggested. Today I found out that my asthma metaphor wasn't very far off. I'm dealing with Reactive Airway Disease...a reaction to the initial virus. It is basically an asthma-like reaction. Very exciting.
Here's to hoping the 2 inhalers, super serious cough surpressant and nasal decongestant lead me to the happy land of breathing!
