Well, today was my last day as an intern at Philadelphia City Paper. Starting with my next round of stories I will be listed as a contributing writer and get PAID! It was sad though, I won't really be in the offices much anymore and so I had to make my rounds and say farewell. My editor, Ashlea, wouldn't speak with me, she said she hated me, that really means she loves me. I'm looking forward to spending time with her outside of work now that the weird dynamic of intern/editor is gone. She's been the best throughout the run of this and has always been my biggest advocate, I really appreciate her. BH pulled some strings for me and managed to get me 6 months free at the 12th Street Gym, that's so awesome I can't even explain. He called me into his office with this very serious tone and when I walked in he had 2 three-month passes in his hands, whaddaguy. I'm currently working on a story that would run about 1000 words for him. It's pretty exciting because it's the first piece of semi-investigative journalism that I've done for this paper. It will be my longest published piece thus far too.
Tomorrow is my first day as a member of the Springboard Media team. I'm hoping it goes well. I have to memorize products and take online tests, how scary is that?! I have exactly 90 days to become a whiz at the MAC and damnit I'm going to do it! I wish I could decide on something to wear though, honestly, I just don't know if I should show up in jeans on my first day (even though we ARE allowed to wear them). Maybe I'll vouch for a dress. HMM.
Aunt Suz is coming into town on Friday. We are going to spend the weekend spending money, living large as guests at the Center City Marriott and attending a Friday night performance of 42nd Street at the Walnut Street Theatre.
And in other other news, I now must go and continue putting together my final internship portfolio so it gets back to Kalamazoo, Mich. by next Monday.
Oh yeah, and I got a new hat. It's a brown fedora with a button detail on the side. It's my Bob Dylan addition to my now blooming hat collection. Sorry fellas, I'm taking over your hat accessories now too.

way to go, lady!
how's that piece you were telling david and me about going? i'm interested to see how that turns out.
and... my suggestion (not like you need it) for your first day at the new job: dress to impress! don't do the jeans until the second day :)
What, I don't get a mention in your "thank you CP" blog post because I didn't give you free passes to anything? Forget you, AMcK.
