In more good news, I will be moving from "intern" on the City Paper Masthead to "Contributing Writer" the first week in December. This means a) I no longer have the shit title of intern and b) I will be paid for my freelance work at the paper. Both things are rad.
This morning I woke up with one of those headaches that involves it feeling like your brain is sloshing and slamming into the side of your skull any time you turn left, right or otherwise. After sitting at the bus stop for about 45 minutes at 3 a.m. last night I gave in a hailed a cab. This wasn't before I had most definitely dozed off once or twice while sitting on the stairs of the theatre at the bus stop. I am officially a Philadelphia Bum, I've slept on the sidewalk. Nothin' but class here.
Jessica and Luke used my opening night tickets and had a great time. Jessica was beside herself about the show, you could tell. I loved that I was able to make her so happy. I spent most of my evening sipping free Dewar's on the rocks and topped off my free drink spree with a double shot of Jack Daniels. I had two drink tickets so I gave the other one to the bartender and he poured himself a Jim Beam and together we showed the world how to throw back a bit of burbon. A Yuengling at Coco's finished out the debauchery.
I didn't do anything horribly stupid last night (aside from the whole unsafe sleeping on the sidewalk ordeal) and managed to keep most people from knowing my alleged level of intoxication, but then again, that is a McKenna specialty trait.
I feel like I have a few good friends at the theatre, last night cemented that and it's a good feeling and it's why I'm still going to work there a few nights a week despite having a full time job and freelance work to do.
So today at the theatre office I looked/felt like hell. Arizona wins the prize though, she hurled on the corner walking to the theatre this afternoon. She made sure to tell me as soon as she got in. Thanks for that friend.
And apparently I don't learn quickly from my mistakes. I am laying in bed with my laptop entering listings and drinking beer.
